90th Post: Route 249 (Anerley Station-Clapham Common)

Well we are 10 posts away, and are proud to be running this blog. Anyway, today Dave and I checked out routes 19 and 249 which are both operated by Arriva London South. Route 249 is ran from Arriva London South's Norwood Garage and its days there are numbered!

The reason why the 249 is numbered at N is that on the 31st March, the route will be transferring to London General from their Merton Garage. The route will gain 14 brand new 10.5m Volvo B9TL/ Eclipse Gemini 2's. Two new Gemini's have already been noted on training over the past week (WVL457 and WVL475). It's really sad to see the 249 change operators as this bus route is my school bus route and I have gotten to know many of the wonderful drivers at N who thoroughly love driving the route with many sharp turns. Lets hope that London General operate it successfully.

Stuff about 249:
-It has mainly been operated by Arriva London throughout its 21 years of life.
-Known for having a lot of sharp turns
-Has an allocation of DAF DB250LF (Voith, Euro2)/ALX400's and Volvo B7TL (ZF, Euro3)/ALX400's
-Goes past my school
-Was extended from Balham to Clapham in 2007
-Is a very nice route
