New Buses for London: Delivery Complete! ✓

As your most likely aware, Boris Johnson pledged to bring a new style of Routemaster into London after intending to axe all 'Bendy Buses' off London roads when he was elected Mayor of London in 2008.

The first of these buses was shown to public in December/January, and later brought into service on the 27th February.

Five months after the first bus was brought in, all eight buses have hit the road on route 38, operating between Victoria and Hackney Central, based at Ash Grove Garage (AE).

In case you haven't been on one yet, 5 operate Monday to Saturday and 3 operate on Sunday.

Here's the entire fleet with photos:

  1. Well, when there is all 600 buses in London, i would imagine having all 600 photos on 1 blog post.

Well done to the Wrightbus workers for doing their tremendous work and Heatherwick Studios for the design of the project and Boris Johnson for funding and the idea and the return of the open platform service. :)

  5. Brilliant buses with one foot in the past courtesy of the open rear platform & olde worlde interior decor, mated with bang up to date Hybrid technology and a modern design!

When in production expect each bus to cost in the region of £315.000 each.

  11. I heard all these silly petty and childish complaints about the Routemaster. These buses are good looking, comfortable to ride in and will be in service for 14 years plus. Stop being negative all the time for once.
