From North to South on 28th April 2012: Route C2

Whilst checking out Route 43, I thought it was vital to check out Route C2 first before it transfers to Abellio's Queenstown Road Garage in Battersea, South London. Route C2 is currently ran from Metroline's Highgate (HT) Garage in North London. The route operates between Victoria and Parliament Hill Fields (Gospel Oak) which is approximately 6 miles long and holds a firm Peak Vehicle Requirement of 18 buses. Likewise with Route 43, Route C2 also uses a variety of buses, which contain:
 -10m Dennis Trident/Plaxton President's
-10m Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President's
-10.6m Dennis Trident/Plaxton President's
-10.6m Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President's
-10.1m Dennis Trident/Enviro 400's

Note: Route C2 was curtailed to terminate at Berkeley Square/Conduit Street due to a St Patrick's Day Festival dominating the heart of London today.

Route C2 was succesfully won by Abellio London and is set to run with their operations from Saturday 28th April 2012, with 20 brand new diesel Enviro E40D's. These will be the first diesel E40D's for Abellio London to gain which is built to the new WTA specification. The fleet numbers are numbered between 9524 and 9543.

So lets wish Abellio good luck with C2 I have a feeling the operations may be better than Metroline's but thats my opinion. Which is very different from others

  2. Why would you post news on tendering??? Do you know if someone from TFL stumbles across this, then Metroline could be in big trouble? Furthermore that source is totally wrong!

Also the Dennis Trident Presidents are 9.9m and 10.5m not 10m and 10.6.

    Jay :)

  3. Erm, why on earth would Metroline be in trouble, i very much doubt the source is correct,

    Metroline can submit two tenders,
exsiting buses and new buses. C2 is a very profitable route being a zone one / central route I cannot see why Metroline would want to lose this route they have had this for ages running under London buses, London Northern, MTL London Northern. out of HT. TFL will look at all bids submitted, and will gauge what they think is the best tender submitted for the public purse .... unless you go for a FOI request to TFL i doubt you will ever find out the real reason.

  4. No prob mate,

please keep posting source's it is good knowledge for us all, dont forget once a tender has been won it doesn't matter TFL know the reason's for wins loses ... having thought about it I think it is possibly correct they over bid for the route with old buses. abelio are tendering cheaper than other companies ... hence why the win and Metro lost it.

I moved to Australia, so sadly i do not get to keep up with the changes so much and this site is fantastic got to see the new W11 W15 etc from the change over great site mate
