Observations and Odd Workings- 18th March 2012: A surprise for you all!

Today, we are gradually bringing back the "Observations and Odd Workings" section back into the blog as we have not updated it as much. Today's Observations sees "rare" and common odd workings serving London's routes. The biggest shock for you all will be the hybrid noted on Route 35.

2424/SN61CYF seen at Clapham Junction- Route 35
Route 35 operates between Clapham Junction and Shoreditch via Brixton which is 8 miles long in length and currently holds a Peak Vehicle Requirement of 19 buses. The current buses Route 35 uses are 10.1m Alexander Dennis Enviro 400's with a Euro 5 Cummins iSBE Engine on a ZF Gearbox (Tridents) These buses are 09 Reg buses.

The hybrid seen on Route 35 today is off neighbouring Route 3 which runs Crystal Palace and Oxford Circus via Brixton which is 9miles long in length and holds a Peak Vehicle Requirement of 22. Route 3 transferred to Queenstown Road Garage on the 11th February 2012 to gain its full hybrid allocation. Route 35 is also ran from the same garage (QB). It has been ran there since 2nd May 2009 where it transferred from London Central's Camberwell Garage after the successful win of the contract. As Routes 3 and 35 are ran from QB along with a whole load of routes its is most likely that there would be a lot of intermixing with the 3's hybrids as seen in this example today.

Other shots and observations took place in Archway and Clapham Junction with an 11 Reg DE spotted on Route 143 which is supposed to be classed as rare and is off Routes 326 and 395. I also spotted a WN on Route 295 which was previously on Route 23 before it gained "temporary" brand new buses (B9TL/Gemini 2's).
