The School Route Swap

As the new school term starts, 5 school routes will change operator.


4 of these routes come from the Jewish Free School in Kingsbury which were all previously run by Arriva London North, but have been lost to Sullivan Buses.
The routes actually will first start service on Monday the 3rd but Service changes can only occur on Saturdays so the will officially change hands today.
They all make Journeys in the morning ferrying school children to JFS and back again in the afternoon, although earlier on a Friday afternoon.

628 Kingsbury JFS to Southgate Via Burnt Oak

This route runs through Barnet's Burnt oak before continuing to Mill Hill Broadway and then follows through 
Totteridge, which is full of open fields, Commons and forests, which after the journey,you forget that you are in London!. After that it continues to Southgate.
The Route has a PVR of 6for its 6 journeys on it's 10 mile routing.



653 Kingsbury JFS to Muswell Hill Via Hendon
This route runs through: West Hendon Broadway, then continuing to Hendon The Quadrant, through to East Finchley, then goes to Fortis Green, before continuing to Muswell Hill.
The route has a PVR of 1 for its one journey on it's 8 mile routing.


683 Kingsbury JFS to Friern Barnet Via Hendon
This Route Runs through West Hendon Broadway, then continuing to Hendon The Quadrant, through to Finchley Central before hitting North Finchley as it continues it's journey to Friern Barnet.
The Route has a PVR of 3 for it's three journeys on it's 7 mile routing.


688 Kingsbury JFS to Southgate Via Edgware
The Route runs through: Edgware before continuing to Mill Hill Broadway and then follows through to one of the most beautiful areas in Barnet (Totteridge) which is full of open fields, Commons and forests which after the journey, you forget that you are in London!. After that it continues to Southgate.
The Route has a PVR of 6 for it's 6 Journeys on it's 11 mile routing.


A Breif History of the routes:
Up until October 2011, the routes were operated at Wood Green (WN) using a mix of 10.6m S Reg DLAs (S*** JUA) or spare VLWs. in October 2011 Routes: W3, 683,628,688 moved to Lea Valley (LV) and took some spare DLAs at Wood Green.
Although there have been many sightings of both 9.9m and 10.25m Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s. on these routes.
Whilst route 653 stayed at Wood Green (WN) as it only has a PVR of one bus and was usually a spare 221 bus.


Now you may be asking what will be running on the school routes, Information gained from Sullivan themselves we are able to give you the list of the  buses to be used on these routes which have been confirmed so far:

This phot was taken on June the 30th whilst this bus was working on Northern
Line rail replacement. scince then it has been fitted with DDA compliant Blinds,
fit for TFL use.




All of the buses above have been refurbished and they are all TFL compliant so hopefully we may see some workings on route 298 in the near future


The 5th route is currently run By Metroline and will Transfer to London Sovereign, from the same, shared garage!!

605 Mill Hill County School To Edgware Station
The Route runs through Mill Hill Broadway via Burnt Oak before continuing to Edgware using only one spare bus from the 204 on it's 3 mile routing.

  1. I believe metroline also ran some JFS journeys for a short time a few years back on behalf of arriva. Don't remember when or which journeys they ran though

    3 Buses this Monday had their top screens smashed in, due to a low branch form the depot to the start of route. Email for more.
