On Saturday (13/10/2012), route 257 returned to Northumberland Park Bus Garage - only difference is that Go-Ahead now have full control as a result of the operator successfully taking over the depot from First London back in March.
This ends what was only a 7 year stint that the 257 had with Stagecoach - which from where the route operates is quite strange seeing as it serves areas which are Stagecoach dominated.
I have covered the history of the route in full detail here and you can find it in a previous post displayed in the link shown - Click Here
The route now operates with WVL class buses, which were new for Routes 14 & 22 in 2005 to convert the routes to OPO. As a result of Route 22 gaining new buses, a few of these WVL buses were displaced over to Northumberland Park for future use on the 257. Here are samples of what will be the face of the 257 for at least the next 5 years:
Really annoyed that the 257 didn't get New Buses. Bad decision!
ReplyDeleteNot that bad though even the 172 got old buses, so 257 should get new buses soon depending on GAL's plan.
ReplyDeleteNo need to as it was an existing bus contract in return the 22 got new B9TL Gemini 2's and B5LH Gemini 2's
Deleteprobably an E400
