Heysham Docks - 20th January 2013

This week, not much was at Heysham Docks Londonwise, with a just a few more of Metroline VW's arriving as well as a few Arriva vehicles.

Metroline: Two VW's were at the docks this afternoon, both destined for Willesden (AC) for the new contract of route 52.

Another VW, destined for Willesden after it stops over at Metroline's CELF centre.

Arriva: Two different vehicles already in service in London, have been up to Wright's Ballymena, and have returned!

Above is Arriva's DW411 returning from Wright's Ballymena. It was taken out of service some time ago, after a fire. It seems as well as fixing the front, they have also extended the bus to 10.7m: for what reason is unknown!

You may remember back in July 2012, where the vehicle above (DRZ 9420) entered service on route 491 for trialing purposes. Well, this bus since has been taken out of service, was at Willesden Junction garage a few weeks ago, and has is now at Heysham (unknown to be going to or from Bellymena). Seeming that the blinds have the Arriva logo in them, it appears the bus is heading back to them for more trialing!

  1. Nice post! Love your Heysham additions - very interesting.
DW411 is an interesting one. I wonder if it sounds different, a newer engine perhaps. Do you think the new ones for Arriva London North will look similar to this?
Will have to go on it when it's back down in London.

  2. DW411 is now a Euro6 bus, don't know if it's headed to AR (as DW406 is no longer in service following a smash last year)...

I hope Arriva are thinking of Streetlites for the 318 :)
