The Roundabouts in Orpington

A short post from me.

This is the last operator change of the year and it involves three routes with a PVR of 2 which are Routes R5/R10 & R7 all transferred to Stagecoach London operated from Bromley Garage on the R7 contract. The R5/R10 previously had its own contract, but has been merged with the R7. It has been a long time since the companies trading "East London" & "Selkent" have gained any day services with a Letter Prefix, for many years the D3 & P4 have been the long standing prefix routes in the company under Stagecoach before they left in 2006 and ELBG. It should also be noted that from 2007-2013 Metrobus operated the full Roundabout Network in Orpington and now only operate 9 of the 11 routes, in 2007 Metrobus acquired First Orpington operations and routes R1, R3, R4, R6, R9, R11 & T32 transferred to Metrobus and Green Street Green garage, routes R2, R5, R7 & R8 were all operated by Metrobus a little while before that.

What I find very strange about Stagecoach operating these services is the limited amount of 8.9m buses at Bromley Garage, whilst Metrobus have over 80 of them in their fleet. In Stagecoach land, Catford Garage is the home of Stagecoach London's 8.9m buses and the batch recently refurbished for route 356 36320-36326 have all been fitted with new blinds and contain routes R5/R10 & R7 just in case a bus is required at Bromley Garage.

In 2008 the anticlockwise loop of the R5 was renumbered R10. The frequency of the R5/R10 has now been decreased to 2.5 Hours per route instead of every 2 hours. Both the R5/R10 share the same bus and the bus used to depart Orpington Station at :19 past the hour, it has now been decreased to improve the service. The major disadvantage from this frequency decrease is residents of Cudham (mainly), Halstead & Knockholt have to wait even longer for the same bus to commute to and from Orpington.

They might go to Croydon garage as spares for the 359, 434 and T32.

    2. Robert, when will 142 (LT02ZDR) and 143 (LT02ZDS) go to London General and when will 286 (SN03YCK) go to Croydon garage?

    3. 286 is already at Croydon Garage. 142 & 143 I'm not sure when they will transfer to NP.

I think Metrobus 935-946 (ex-261 Omnidekkas) are now withdrawn from London service because according to LVF (London Vehicle Finder), they haven't been seen in service since 11/12/13, 12/12/13 or 13/12/13 and that was last week.
