Top 10 Unusual Workings 2013: 1st Place
1st Place:
| Route 233 143 LT02ZDS - Eltham |
The end of the countdown is here and 1st Place is revealed. Here we have the only remaining Former First London Marshall in service on the 233, since this was taken 1 of them has been withdrawn which is 142 LT02ZDR former DMS462, DMS41462 which was based at Croydon Garage. The bus above is DMS463, DMS41463 and is still in service at Orpington, but for how much longer.
Route 233 returned to Metrobus after 5 years with Arriva Kent Thameside on 23/02/13 new single deckers introduced. Out of all of the odd workings that have appeared on this route this year, this is the most unusual and rarest working and has only happened once ever since the route returned to Metrobus this year as it is the only Marshall left in the Orpington fleet. What is interesting about this though is this Marshall and many others that have been withdrawn have been blinded for routes 233 and 434 since 2007 when Metrobus acquired First Orpington and all their fleet, so a Marshall has visited the 233 in the past, not too sure about the 434 though.
Route 233 is a route that can really use anything from a 8.9m bus to a double decker, the route is allocated 8.9m buses due to tight turns in Swanley so TFL specify the shortest bus type, but longer vehicles have done the route many times under Arriva and Metrobus 1998-2007. Since 1997 the route has been either at DT or MB and has swapped operator quite a few times in the past.
That concludes the Top 10 Unusual Workings 2013

There will probably be a 10.2m or a 10.8m Enviro 200 from the R9 or the 126 and 284 on the 233 in the future. For example next year.
